MapMyRide.com iPhone app

Posted by: sho In: Sports| iPhone

Using MapMyRide.com iPhone app, I was able to utilize the GPS chip and track my bike ride on April 19, I was able to log the distance and the exact path I took coming home. It’s free and pretty neat. The only downside is it used up a ton of battery. So not recommended if [...]

My favorite iPhone app

Posted by: sho In: iPhone

This has got to be my favorite iPhone application thus far. It’s the Google Mobile App. Recently, they have added speech recognition, dubbed “Voice Search.” Simply put, you just put it to your ear, and the proximity sensor kicks in and the app starts listening. You say what you are looking for and voila! Results [...]

Wordpress to iPhone issues

Posted by: sho In: Web| iPhone

Wish I had more time to troubleshoot this stuff.
Actually, I fixed this. Xml-rpc was enabled in wp-admin, but it was looking for a new file wp-load.php file that I believe is a new addition to one of the latest Wordpress updates. Since I use symbolic links, that new addition was never updated. Now when I [...]

Apple exchange program announced

Posted by: sho In: Apple

Looks like Apple has just made a recall announcement of sorts for their Ultracompact USB Power Adapter that was first released along with the iPhone 3G. Thus if you have one, you can either sign up online for an exchange to be mailed to you with a pre-postage to send the defective one back or [...]

iPhone software progress

Posted by: sho In: Photography| iPhone

Well, I’m happy to say that iPhone software v2.1 has finally listened to its loudest critiques and made some headway.

Backups or syncing are definitely faster
3G coverage seems better (I’m getting more bars at this medical center where my wife has gone before and after the software update)

Apps are awesome and are the ever-defining feature of [...]

Wordpress 2.6 compatibility woes

Posted by: sho In: Web| iPhone

So 2 weeks ago I caved in and upgraded to Wordpress 2.6 which broke its functionality with Shozu and thus my iPhone 3G. When the Wordpress iPhone app became available, I was excited to try it but encountered issues just adding this site -the screen would go black after submitting my information as if it [...]

iphone 3g craves power

Posted by: sho In: iPhone

I purchased this iPhone because I passed up v1. Not believing that I should disable features such as 3G or Push, my only options are wait until a firmware update corrects the piss-poor battery life or buy an extra charger for work/vehicle. Just buying a new charger + usb dock connector would run me about [...]

not in the manual

Posted by: sho In: iPhone

One pesky thing I found with my iPhone 3G setup was voicemail. I did not see any documentation included with the phone of how to set it up (and even if it were in there, it shouldn’t require google if you are a skip-the-manual type). I tried pressing the voicemail button in the phone screen [...]

iPhone 3G or v2.0 apps

Posted by: sho In: Apple| Technology| iPhone

I have done it now. I went and picked up a new iPhone 3G 8GB monster. Now for a little backstory: I had my grubby hands on the original a year ago, but it didn’t want to register since my number is part of the business account. Not to be deterred, I picked up a [...]
